I'm going to have to find a pedigree chart to sort all the above & below out, in my own mind.
"Everyone on Earth has Royal Roots"?!
| Here are some old family
notes, regarding the SEYMOUR, HAMMOND, & DEMAIN families
mainly. (click it to see larger)
According to Wikipedia, Edward SEYMOUR, 1st Duke of Somerset (c.1506-1552) divorced his first wife Catherine FILLOL (disowning her and her children) around 1535 and married Anne STANHOPE, who bore him nine children. The STANHOPE name pops up here & there in my family tree (eg my great grandfather was Franklin Stanhope GRANT), but that could be because in Ireland Jocelyn Henry Connor THOMAS (1780-1862) (my great great great grandfather) became agent for the estates of Lord Stanhope and Lady Portarlington? 20/2/07: It appears that the grandmother of the Thomas SEYMOUR who married Isabel ONLEY & fathered Elizabeth SEYMOUR (who married the Reverend Edward HAMMOND, according to my old pedigree chart, above) was Ann STANHOPE 24/11/07: I read Anne STANHOPE SEYMOUR (Duchess of Somerset)'s Will online tonight. She mentions a son, Thomas. The plot thickens.
